Dookudu and Oosaravelli producers in trouble

The next time Tollywood producers make tall claims about the prints and the collections of their films, they need think twice before doing that! The reason for this is the close eye of the commercial taxes department on the big budgeted flicks.

According to the records, "Films equal to 36 prints or less than must pay Rs.10, 000 per print. Films with 36-100 prints must pay Rs. 20,000 per print. Films with 101-150 prints must pay Rs. 30,000 per print. Films with 151 prints and above must pay Rs. 40,000 per print."

As per sources, the producers of Dookudu and Oosaravelli are under the scanner. Going by the publicity reports launched by the producers, bothe thease films got released with more than 1,000 prints. This means the producers should pay a hefty VAT of more than Rs 4 crore each. Already, the producers of Dookudu and Oosaravelli were facing problems in the form of taxes, for claiming their films have grossed record collections. Now, the commercial taxes department has issued notices to the producers to pay the tax according to the number of prints they claim to distribute. All these developments are sure to  make things miserable for them.
